My Experience
My first visit to New Zealand lasted only a couple of days during my freshman year of college while I was traveling back to Miami from Australia. Although my time there was brief, I had the chance to explore Auckland, wandering along its lively waterfront and taking in the city’s relaxed atmosphere.
What made the trip especially memorable, though, had nothing to do with the city itself. Through a friend, I received a VIP pass to the ASB Classic, a WTA tournament held in Auckland. In the players’ lounge, I struck up a conversation with Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit, who was there supporting his wife, tennis legend Serena Williams. We talked about business, travel, and life, and he shared several pieces of advice that really impacted me. After Serena’s match, I even had the chance to meet her, making an already unforgettable experience even more memorable.
