Chile

As a lifelong tennis fan, I planned my visit to Chile around a professional tournament in Santiago during my final year at the University of Miami. But the most memorable part of the trip came on a day trip into the Andes, where I met Hanne and Jens Peter, a retired Danish couple. They had sold nearly everything they owned and decided to spend their retirement traveling the world, living in a different country every few months. I remember thinking how inspiring it was that, even at that stage of life, they still had such a strong sense of curiosity and adventure.

Over the following years, we stayed in touch through Instagram, and I loved following their travels. We even crossed paths again in Melbourne during the Australian Open and later in Chiang Mai, Thailand, near the end of my journey to every country. It was special that two people I had met so early in my travels were also there to see me near the finish.
