My Experience
People often ask me about my favorite countries in Europe, and Ireland is always near the top of my list. That answer usually surprises people. I loved exploring Dublin’s lively streets, historic architecture, and pub culture, and I also enjoyed taking the train out to the charming coastal town of Howth. But what truly made Ireland special for me was its people.
Whether it was striking up conversations in pubs or chatting with people on the street, the Irish had an incredible ability to make complete strangers feel welcome. Considering the country’s long history of hardship and conflict, I found it remarkable how much generosity and good humor seemed to define the people. As I would come to learn throughout my travels, difficult histories often have a way of fostering empathy.
