My Experience
Malta completely exceeded my expectations. Beyond its crystal-clear coastline and beautiful architecture, I was fascinated by its unique history and culture. Situated between Europe and North Africa, Malta has been shaped by countless civilizations, from the Phoenicians and Arabs to the Knights of St. John and the British. Even the Maltese language reflects that blend, with Arabic roots written in the Latin alphabet.
I especially enjoyed wandering the narrow streets of Valletta, whose golden limestone buildings and centuries of history give the city a character unlike anywhere else in Europe. I also spent time on the quieter island of Gozo, where life felt slower, the countryside more rugged, and the villages almost untouched by mass tourism. For such a small country, Malta has an incredibly rich identity and far more to offer than most people realize.
