My Experience
San Marino, one of Europe’s smallest countries, took a bit of planning to reach. I found a Ryanair flight from Malta to Parma for less than $15, then pieced together trains and buses the rest of the way. There, I was joined by one of my closest friends from my junior tennis days, Giulia. She had always been one of my biggest supporters in my mission to visit every country, so when she heard I was going to San Marino, she spent nearly seven hours on trains and buses from western Italy just to spend the day exploring it with me.
Together, we wandered the charming streets of the hilltop old town, taking in the views over the surrounding countryside. In the end, what I remember most wasn’t San Marino itself. It was spending the day with Giulia, someone who believed in my dream and went out of her way to help me achieve it. I hope everyone is lucky enough to have people like that in their corner.
