My Experience
As a lifelong tennis fan, visiting the Swedish Open in Båstad had always been at the top of my list. It’s known as one of the most beautiful tournaments on the ATP Tour. That said, accommodation in the town was far beyond my budget, so I ended up booking a room in a tiny village deep in the countryside. Getting to the tournament each day meant spending hours walking through the forest and riding buses.
After hearing about my less-than-ideal accommodation, a friend from tennis, Harrison, who happened to be there with his family, told them about my situation. They immediately invited me to stay with them at their summer home. We spent the evenings sharing stories and enjoying home-cooked family dinners, something I hadn’t experienced much growing up. Thanks to their hospitality, my time in Sweden became one of the fondest memories from that summer.
